73 Mach I Long Term Project

In my intro message I mentioned I have had this project for 20+ years. I don't have any good pictures of the car right now but I have started my latest project of rebuilding the C4.

Following are pictures of the start of the teardown:

Hoping to continue the tear down in the next couple of days.

Good Luck with the rebuild, I just finished rebuilding my C4 also, they are a great transmission to learn on. If you run into any questions there is a great YouTube video with 3 parts that really helped me out if you search rebuilding C4 transmission. The guy goes through everything step by step and if you have a manual it is extra reassurance.

Clutch packs rebuilt! New seals, frictions and steels.

Nice work!! I always wanted to learn how to rebuild a tranny but it looks really complicated. Keep the updates coming..

Worked on the front pump today. Installed the bushing, seal and pump gears. Pump housing cleaned:

Bushing installed:

Finished assembling the pump and adding the stator support sealing rings.

Installed the low/reverse servo today. First pic is the cover with the seal installed:

Next the servo installed in the trans housing:

And finally the cover installed and the bolts torqued to 20 lb-ft:

Installed the shift levers. First the outer lever:

Slowly but surely it is coming along. Hopefully it will be done before the paint is finished next month!
