9in rear

I have a 77 mustang that I am turning into a drag car. The car has a 8" rear end and I am going to put a 9" in it. I have a friend who has 9" banjo type out of a 66 econoline. My question is will the third member work in this housing.

A 9" center section (third member) will NOT fit in an 8" housing.

All 9'" centers interchange into any 9" housing, as long as the axles are the correct spline.

Don's right, 8 inchers are apples in a orange world.

It is the whole axel assembly What I was hopeing is that the third members I have at my shop will fit in there. I have a 4 geared spool that is going in it. Just not familliar with the banjo 9" houseing. I figure for $100 I can't go wrong.
