I have a 1972 Ford Mustang 302 V8 Automatic Hardtop
I removed old ac air duct LH register. But when I got the old one out. The bottom piece where the bottom part of the register fits into was broke already. So not to familiar with this. Would that mean now I have to replace the light cluster instrument panel that the ac air duct register is part of. I have the bottom part in 2 pieces. Any way to save it. The new register has 3 holes I assume for screws. To screw into cluster panel. Not familiar with 72 Mustang yet. Appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks, David

The air duct assembly screws into the cluster trim panel from the backside. Remove the lower cover for the column, the column collar, and the screws holding the dash trim to the dashboard and dash pad. When reinstalling, make sure to catch the metal clips on the plastic air duct behind the dash with new register, or you'll have a rattle/squeak.
