The evaporator lines are very soft and easy to bend if needed, however once you install the expansion valve you will see how things clear. Once you install the expension valve you can grab the block and pull the lines back evenly if needed I think it will clear for the lines.
getting thing to line up is the issue you will need to bend things here and there so the expansion valve doesn't cross thread.
don't forget the orings and to lubricate the seals with the correct a/c compressor oil, it will be different if you use R-12 or R-134a

when you attach the compressor hoses they go towards the shock tower are held up by a rubber strap in the center of the shock tower then snake around to the front of the engine.
