Any old Mech Warriors out there?

If so...I just got a update on the next big release for pc...been a decade coming...old games where great...From all i seen of this one..Its going to be top notch online game for free.

I played the original Mechwarrior video game on my Amiga 500 when it was a turn-based using overhead-view on a hexagonal map.

Then I played Mechwarrior 3 on my PC, and was overwhelmed with the number of control keys and shortcuts required to make it work.

Also played a game called 'Shattered Steel' which was more my style of hop-in, run around, kill stuff, and move on to the next target.

Nowadays, I'm content with a couple of driving games, You Don't Know JACK, and Spider Solitaire.

Have fun though! Looks nice.

Oh yeah - I've also been playing a lot of the old coin-op arcade games using a MAME emulator. It's a total blast playing Galaga, Tempest, Asteroids, Star Castle, Rip-Off, Joust, and all the old line-drawn 'classics.'

Of course - I STILL suck at every one of them, but they're still fun... and don't cost a quarter to play every time.

its been years but i started with battletech crescent hawk's inception and worked up the line through the original mech warrior and in the 90s net mech. i actaully did beta testing on the original net mech

after mechwarrior 4 i gave up and went elsewhere.

nothing was a great as 8 player net mech over IPX open environment.

the best was hiding in a canyon with my power shutdown as 2 enemy players sat above me on the plateau. I powered up underneath them confusing the radar, and jump jetted straight up the canyon wall behind them and let loose with PPC grouped weapons, took out the legs crippled both unit as they fell and hammered the cockpits with medium lasers until my reactor overheated and attempted shutdown , hit O to override the shutdown and hammered them some more with small lasers ah ghost bear legacy and i miss my old NOVA and commander

Very cool...Me too..Long time mech junkie...Been waiting a decade for a new version...lol...And i guess with this new one..the scout mechs are going to have alot more to do and be real effective!!....I use to play battletech board game even...I still got the lead mechs...lol...Then played battletech online threw aol then gamestorm...But they shut them down..Moved too mechwarrior parts 1 2 3 4...Which i still think part 3 offered cooler lasers..hehe...part 1 had more mechs."odd mechs like rifleman 2 and battlemaster"..Part 4 had the smoothest non glitchy grafics and better set up for high speed that was coming out at the time...Wasnt it neat on the part 3 too hit override till your mech nuked? lmao..I allready went to the web site and registered my name...Right now they letting people sign up and get ready for the new version..Which is going to be free online..woot!! And they keep saying even premium accounts wont let you buy your way into winning..You have to have skill..lol....Thank god i kept my old twisty joystick

I played that original one too...But on a apple se!! lmao....mech 3 was getting tuff..And if you didnt have a twisty stick...It would of been frustraiting...I never had to touch my keyboard...Everything was on my stick and if you twisted it the right way..You could turn your torsos while runing and gunning all at the same time...it made mech life much easier...Thats the kinda game like a flight simulator...you really need a nice stick to make life better and easier on it..lol

I got mame too...play old black tiger on there sometimes and tron and all the classics....Thou i got a newer computer and i dont think it likes my old version..i donwloaded a new one..But i havent got all the games to work right.. hehe...I like the classics too...I still have a arati 2600..5200...and a coleco....a sega too...Im going to set them all up in a little room and make a 1980's game room out of it...with all the old game systems and pac man posters and such..lol..Then when my nefew comes over and wants to play games..ill say..i got some real kick butt grafic games in here!! watch out!lmao

I [still] have a Gravis Thunderbird - love the separate trim and throttle... but I never did get the cool Microsoft 'twisty' stick though.

That's the way to do it. I've actually thought about building a stand-up arcade game cabinet, and stuffing a MAME computer inside of it with one of those cool 2-player mega 'button, stick, and trackball' controllers into it. They've got some kits and designs for sale for someone to craft such things as well. Maybe after I get my Mach 1 on the road, I might find the time to do that.

I don't know about any online versions, but I think I could probably send a copy your way. You'll need a MAME emulator, then pick up the 'ROMs' from your favorite games and you're rockin' & rollin'.

Ya mame rules!! games are downloaded from original coin operated stand up systems...You have to click a button too keep adding coins just like the original...I really like that program.
