I am trying to plan a future body work project for my car because I know some of these areas will need help. maybe your eyes can see something mine can't. The P/O went crazy with body filler on my car, especially on the B-pillar areas. being that the rest of the car was so clean I don't know why he would have done some of these things. The one that concerns me the most is where it looks like bondo is cracking around the striker bolt. If anybody has any thoughts or insights as to what I am seeing here please chime in. I have little to no body experience, I like turning bolts!!

Difficult to tell from a picture but there could be filler behind the striker which cracks easily due to pressures on the striker

If you are going to tackle the body work yourself be prepared for a few surprises if you bare metal it

Hopefully you don't have too many rust issues as I have had to contend with

How big of a project it will be depends on what is underneath, how far you wish to go with it, wallet size and above all patience

You might get away with just repairing the visible spots and if current paint in reasonable condition a sand/scuff paint job or you might go down the full body restoration path where the sky is the limit

Plenty of help on the forum either way you choose

They do rust out in that area for sure. Just sold one to a guy to replace his. Sent a couple to Africa for a rebuild there. Since all that is bare metal inside it will rust pretty fast. I have said may times our cars should never be washed with a hose, pressure washer or car wash. The steel is raw steel on the inside absolutely no primer just some over spray and sealer that cracks over time.

I used rust bullet on the inside of that area to combat this rust prone area on these cars. It seems to be helping but I am starting to see a little bubbling here and there. Keep us updated as to what you come up with.
