A local guy has a similar '66 ragtop...

Red/white, buckets, console, 289 auto, average overall shape. Started a resto on it and discovered the "S" code in the VIN engine character.

He had no clue what that meant.

Turned out to be a real Pace Car.

Some guys have all of the luck.

That is dang nice! A perfect home for a 427. I have friends in near Yorkville. I think I could justify a trip up there if you need someone to drive it back:D

I don't see 49k but I do like the car. The Comet was caught up in the luxury/ sport car but never got the respect it deserved. Kinda like the body lines and like its cousins it could be made up to be a nice street car.

Comet yells middle class blue collar family car with flair.

Chuck how is it value wise stateside. 427 4speed and what looks like a very good resto its worth the dollars here in Australia for sure. 66 cyclones just look so right and they conjure images of afx racing and super stockers like no other car for me

I haven't done at lot of research but, I don't think it will bring $50K in this market. I feel it would bring 35K from the right buyer. Either way it isn't in my budget but, I still want it. Chuck

I'm not Chuck..... but that same car is 30ish....but more like mid to high 20's and like he said to the right guy 35...not any more. Again that is one fine Comet...and the Cyclone tagged cars "to the right guys" was unique and mysterious.

For die hard FE nuts the 427, even if it is a center oiler, adds a couple (or more) of thousand to the value. I know it would for me. And it is RED, RED. I need to stop looking at this car. Chuck

"Car Lust" is a good description. "Lust" is a purely subjectve emotion...no objective or empirical basis whatsover.

Accordingly whatever "lustifies" you could easily have zero effect on someone else. No logic involved.

My personsal " lustful" vehicles?

1) my 71 Mach ( naturally)

2) '70 Challenger R/T convertible

3) Early "unadorned" Pantera

4) 427 Cobra S/C

5) '57 Dodge D-500 convertible

6) early Ferrari 365 GTB/S

7) Masertai Ghibli

8) Aston Martin Vanquish

9) BMW 635 CSi ( mid 80s)

10) '63 Tbird roadster

Of course, being "lust-based", I expect no-one to agree with these choices..

Hi Kit,

Item 5.......... '57 Dodge. Out of curiosity, what is it about the '57 model that gets your nuts crackin'? I ask because the '59 vert is my knockout model, whereas the '57s and '58s just don't do it for me as much. Maybe it's someting to do with the size of the fins.:p

Greg.:)

Hey Carter,

Great list, but no such thing as a '69 429 Mach 1. And what are the differenes between a '69 Roadrunner and a '69 Roadrunner?

I APOLOGIZE for making a typo x 2 and maybe one was just an absolute mental desire to repeat the 69 Road Runner

Just funnin' ya...and I get it for the '69 'runner. Wishing for one twice is very understandable.
