So reflecting, I can almost see myself in the picts
Very nice!
At some point in the late 80's, I've let done engine brackets, all covers I could find in engine bay by a local chrome plating. Not the booster.
Most work being the polish/cleaning and how thick the copper layer is.
I was so beautiful and then some dude broke in my garage and found them nice too. He broke my passenger window using a screwdriver damaging the roof rail
and side window, stole the parts inside , try force the rear deck lid and that brave thing resisted but was severely damaged so as the rear tail panel.
A load of new engine parts were stored in the trunk. He stole a new golf GTI parked next to my car to carry the parts...
A year later, found all the parts I was missing here and there in junkyards in surrounding countries of France. No more chrome, just tired and rusty parts in hands.
Budget was gone, so restored and painted them.
Its just end of last year, thx to Omie (member on this site) that I finally got last part, the roof rail, replaced by a "as new" one. No more visible memories
of that event on the car anymore.
I've since then also let re-chrome a few, like the radiator brackets, hood/fender extensions, bumper... also let done the hood hinges,
but with white chrome as there is some friction, its very strong and much cheaper.
I agree when done by hand with a bit of love, you can see it back into the chrome.
