As the heading says, I would like to know if anyone can tell me the clearance between the trunk pan and the top of the gas tank.  I'm remounting my battery to tie it to the frame rails after the roll bars were welded in and since the floor isn't flat, I'd like to build a simple riser to level it out for the battery mounting plate.  If I could rivet it in that would be great, but I don't know if there is room.  Option 2 would be to build the riser and panel bond it into place, but I'd rather not buy 20.00 worth of panel bonder if a handful of rivets would work.

I don't know that there actually IS any clearance.  I'm thinking the straps are there to wedge up against the underside of the floor pan.  The sending unit and vent have indentations to clear their hoses/connections, but otherwise, I think it just squishes up against the underside of the floor pan itself.

it wedges in there and the straps hold it. there is suppose to be some tar paper on the top of the tank to keep it from making noise against the trunk floor pan and keep it from rubbing a hole in the tank.

Thanks for confirming that, Dan. ::thumb::

Now, I think I might need to drop mine and slide something like that tar paper pad you mentioned in there. :chin:
