Distributor Shaft Plating

I am going to try to rebuild my own distributor. In fact, I have several 400M Duraspark distributors to rebuild into a 351C HEI distributor.

I want to have the distributor shafts plated back to spec.

Does anyone know of a metal plating operation that can plate the shafts to eliminate the wear patterns?

Anyone in your area do marshield? It's a finish that's applied to gun frames to eliminate wear for competition shooters. The finished product looks like stainless steel that has been glass beaded and it's slick and never wears out.

Three words.

Industrial Hard Chrome.

There is probably a tooling shop in your area that has the equipment. It is not just a surface "show" treatment. it has great wear qualities and is very tough.

Dos Equis XXX was good for everything ?

Plasma (powdered metal) coating could also be used, very hard coatings are available, then machined to specs.
