I was under the impression that some 73 heads still had the large valves. Mine did, but I don't know if it had been altered. Date codes were clearly for a 73 though and the valves were ford parts. Of course in 35 years, who knows what was done
Very late 1973 heads had big runners and small valves. Earlier 73 heads were big runners and big valves like all the others.

Never did find out why Ford decided to or needed to do this. I would like to know.

030 on the piston would mean it is 30 over already

Heads are 73 open chamber

the piston volume is around 10 to 15 cc

using 10 cc, .030 bore, .040 gasket, .005" deck height, your compression is a maximum of 8.8 and it may be less . . that is very wimpy for a performance engine but of for a cruiser.
