Or you could just make your own to fit in the stock place out of sheet metal. Thays what I did. You could also be a little more careful and not scratch the paint but it is what it is lol. Fits under the top of the dash no problem.

From my experience the single speaker solution (dual voice coil) for the dashpad is a waste unless you don't have an option. I used the Retrosound dashpad speaker for a while but I was never satisfied with the sound. I eventually ended up modifying the doors to add 6x8 (5x7) Kicker speakers and a subwoofer (https://7173mustangs.com/threads/door-speaker-replacement.25136/page-3#post-358045 and https://7173mustangs.com/threads/mu...hread-1971-m-mach-1.19381/page-14#post-345617). Adding these took a few hidden mods that no one will notice. The sounds is awesome now. Off course, I didn't stop there and added another hidden mod by placing two tweeters in the dashpad with independent volume control (https://7173mustangs.com/threads/mu...hread-1971-m-mach-1.19381/page-15#post-388339). However, I don't think the tweeters add that much but obviously my hearing is not what it used to be ;) .
Did any of the 71 mach 1's come with an option of more than just a single speaker in the dash? I too just bought the single speaker retrosound but I did pick the most expensive none. I'm not keep on listening to music loud anymore like the subwoofers and amps i installed in every car I have, guess this girl is getting too old, but I do want the ability of am and FM, so im going to order a retro fit AM and FM and maybe with the sirius adapter.

This is what I am doing. Test fit 6.5” coaxial, but decided on 6.5l component to get the tweeter up higher.

Welded the two ends of the louver back to the bottom of the door to keep them from rattling.

Also welded screw tabs for the speaker to screw into.

I will fill the gaps with high density foam.

I have decided to not use rings and mount direct to the door card into the metal screw tabs for more foot clearance getting in and out of the car.
