So my car had a water temp warning light, and a failed oil pressure warning light. I felt like I was driving blind with this 52 year old original power train….I added a volt meter in the console when I rewired the car, its integrated in a USB a charger…
Last week, I added oil pressure and water temp mechanical gauges…made by Bosch, but Chinese junk. These are 1.5 inch diameter and fit nicely in the 2x4 radio opening…
The capillary tube for the oil was barely long enough to reach, I wasnt able to route it optimally or have any loose spare for much movement.
The temp sensor has a flat flange to seal, but the adapters all had tapered sealing surfaces, so it is loose and leaks….I happened to find a home plumbing washer that fit perfectly. Time will tell if it can hold up to hot antifreeze…it was a hot water line seal so it should have some heat resistance….
I also had to build my own light wiring harness and use my own bulbs, what they sent was defective….
I mounted gauge faces in my radio opening, which I won’t use for a radio, and made my own plate….came out pretty good.
