FE engines have a rich history both in NASCAR and drag Racing. Also a very formidable street engine. Definitely worth celebrating.
Today is 429 day, one of my favorites. In fact the redesigned 1971 Mustang was slated for the Boss 429 engine, unfortunately, emissions standards were getting tougher and Ford pulled out of racing. Then the gas shortage came along and soon big engines were on their way out. The high performance 429’s were short lived. Luckily, thanks to some smart people who realized the potential of these engines, we have the availability of 429 based street engines capable of producing over 800 hp on pump gas. How about a prostock engine making 2000 hp, or turbocharged versions making over 3000 hp.
Let’s all celebrate 429 day! I also think of the engines based on the time of day, 3:02, 3:51, etc. 😊

Last week we had 4/26 day, and 4/27 day. one could say good days for 426 wedges and Hemis, and 427 Fords and Chevys, although.........technically, if you work out the 427s cubic inches using the B x B x S x .7854 x no. of cylinders........The formula for determining cubic inches, you'll find the 427 Ford is actually a 425, but Chrysler had a 426 and General Motors had a 427, so Ford didn't want to appear the smaller of the big three, so 427 it is.

The 428 is actually a 426.543. The marketing is always a factor. Chuck
