Hello all,

I'm new to the site and I'm trying to gauge the value of my 1973 Mach 1. VIN 3F05H136427.

It has a 351C and runs very well although a tune up would I'm sure benefit it. 49,950 miles and Ivy Green with silver stripes.

It was bought new by my father and has been garage kept. There is no rust on it of any kind and we have all the original parts such as the hub caps, and even the original am radio and spare tire.

It has one dent on the right front fender that can be pushed out and the paint is in very good shape for 39 years old.

The only modifications were putting SS wheels on it and side pipes, both of which would need rechromed or replaced unless the original rims and caps were to be used.

I will post some pictures as soon as I figure out how to do it.

In the mean time I'll be browsing through the site.

Have a great day,

John

Got it, my daughter has volleyball this afternoon and this evening but will get on them and have them posted by tomorrow. Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it.

Welcome from Arkansas...the value of anything is how much someone is willing to give. Car values fluctuate but mustangs just keep going up. You can do a marti report to find out option numbers and that helps determine the value of your car...without sentimental of your family ties to the car which to me are priceless. Others on here could give you a better answer on that but sounds like a keeper to me

Thanks, Oh it's definitely a keeper for me but sometimes life has other ideas. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it at this time, but would like to get an idea in case the VA doesn't come thru with what they owe me. Home for a family or a car I love... Not much of a decision then.

I'd hate it if I have to sell it but one must do the unpleasant at times..

Thanks for the input!

Welcome from North Carolina. Fine looking Mustang and the fact that you have all of the original parts is a great thing. I'm sure someone will post up.

Yes I have been down that road many times...one painful time was a 68 gt sportroof 4 speed and yes it was dark highland green

Welcome,

I would guess that your car as described, in its present condition in your location would be worth between $7,000 on the lower side and up to $9,000 on the higher side. Don't take that as gospel, just trying to help out with real numbers.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate all the info I can get!

WELCOME aboard, John!

It would appear that you have a pretty nice "Survivor" in your '73 Mach 1. As to it worth, I am sure that you understand that will vary dependent upon a number of factors. A couple of them (a willing buyer and the originality) have been alluded to in previous posts. I would add that it also depends on the area of the Country. Of course, with all the nation-wide options for advertising, that issue can be overcome. "Hemmings" is a pretty good "predictor" as it relates to what folks are asking (as of today) for their '73 Mustangs. Here is a link that should give you some idea but keep in mind that "asking price" is not necessarily "buying price."

Good Luck with your VA claim(s). I know that gaining the desired closure on a claim can often seem like an insurmountable exercise but it pays to keep to it. As I am sure you know, the VA has a TREMENDOUS backlog of claims but seem to be earnestly trying to remedy the situation.

Again, Welcome and hopefully things will turn out whereby you will be able to keep your Mach 1, if that is BEST for you and your Family.

Thanks for the site and thanks for the well wishes with the VA. I noticed a lot of the cars on there are rebuilt/repaired/repainted. I know that the car will need some minor work but does the fact that it doesn't need restored come into play with these things or is it just basically the same rough price regardless?

I honestly was surprised at some of the prices being asked didnt think it would be up to that range.

But damn I'd love to not even be havin to debate this. Like takin it out for drives with my daughter.

Thanks all for your welcomes and input.

::welcome:: From San Diego. I would say with a good clean up it's worth 5-5,500 all day long. I would ask 7,000 and see how it goes. I think you will kick your self for selling a good solid car like that. Hopefully you don't have to sell it.

Welcome from coastal Alabama!

I've looked at and bought several Mach 1s over the past couple of years. A solid low mileage car has a lot going for it out the gate. $6000 would be the minimum value it's worth and $9000 or so would be the upper side maybe more if someone just has to have it.

Welcome to the site from Northern Virginia! I think it's priceless to you since your father bought it new and has held onto it all these years. Do your best to hang onto it!
