They are the cheap way to bend pipe, the bender creates those. They reduce the internal diameter/area, increasing back pressure. The more expensive way is called mandrel bent, where a steel mandrel is pulled through the pipe while it is being bent, creating a uniform diameter and area, reducing back pressure.

That is an OE appearing exhaust set-up to me. The factory system were not done in the more expensive mandrel equipment so they would have the reductions for bending.

 
69's and 70's are probably my second favorite Mustang style! Not $375K fav though! WOW! Nice car however!!

 
Factory appearing pipes. Kinda the point of a correct appearing car is it not ?

I bought the pipes from Don as "performance" pipes, which they are :D We had to retune the engine after adding these pipes :D:D

I never considered I was installing factory correct pipes :D:D:D

What about back pressure?
