Hood Bumper Hardware

There is always something....

When I last had my car together I remember  the hood bumpers having a large fender washer that sat on top of the core support and hood pin brackets and a washer nut or something on the bottom side to allow you to adjust the height and use the nut and washer on the top side as a jam nut to tighten in place.

I just received my replacement Scott Drake hood bumper kit, and am perplexed on the fact that there are no fender washers or jam nuts on the new bumpers.  



There are no weld nuts for these to thread into on the core support.(Reproduction)  And the final frustration is I can't find the bumpers I removed when disassembling the car.

Questions:

1) What is the proper hardware configuration for these stops in addition to the nut shown that comes with them.

2) Is there a kit with the proper fender washers in the proper finish?

3) What else am I missing?

  This is what you need:

This is the correct clip for the hood bumpers. It is installed in the square hole in the top of the radiator support brace. It is designed to bind the threads on the bumper so that it does not need a nut, but can still be adjusted and stay put. AMK has them.

OK  that looks more like it.  I looked at the car today and see that the core support and the brackets both have a single rectangular hole in them, so that is incorrect for the U-nut posted earlier.

Does this B-12036 drop on the hole then twist to latch?  I still remember a fender washer on top of the twist lock bracket below the stop nut.  Otherwise the stop nut will catch on the hole in the bracket.  Am I nuts there or does that sound like another part I need?  Surprised that these nuts don't come with the hood bumper set or the master body set of hardware.

Yes. You need to twist it so the tabs slide underneath the frame and hold the clip in place. I did not use a fender washer or anything else when I secured the twist lock bracket to the radiator support bracket and the deadlight bucket. That does not mean I am 100% correct in the way I did it, but I have never found a clear nut and bolt example of how the bracket was assembled. You can't see the clip but it's under the bracket in the pic below. This was the only way I envisioned it working with the B-12036 hood bumper clip. Maybe someone else on the forum has an original example or better understanding of how these brackets were attached.

Thanks for the info team.  The latest?  

The reproduction hood bumpers for the round stops on the cowl are a full 1/4 inch taller than my original, and have different hardware.  I am afraid this may cause fit/leveling problems.  Anyone else have this problem

I found out this same issue. On top of the height difference the bottoms are very weak and the screw drives through. They were useless for me. I ended up reusing the old ones. They were a bit cracked but had no choice.
