My Car
1972 Mustang Convertable
302 v2 FMX 2.79 rear end
Now that my Portable 10'x20' garage has clapsed, I want to put up a perminate car port, but the town zoneing said I the Max size is 10'x15' max 150 sqft any configuration

I can't put up an other portable carport, and leave it up like I have done in the past, I just found out the town zoning is 1 month only (now that I'm on their radar I need to obay)

so what is the length of the mustang? I thought I saw once 189" = aprox. 16'

if someone has the exact length please let me know.

the car is used all spring , summer and fall, its mostly for winter to keep the snow off it.

Thanks

Went with a 73 because with the bumper I think its the longest

Great thanks I will go with the 73' about 17' long

I think the 10x15 could work then, a little short, but better than nothing.

I would put 15' on all the drawings/plans and that sucker would be more like 19' when done and then play the "I did not know" card if ever questioned
+1 Thats what i would do to! Zoning rules are bullshit! You own the property you pay taxes on the property and they get to tell you what you can and cannot do on it. CRAZY!! Im very glad i live in the country. i build whatever i want and even if the neighbors dont like it they can kiss my arse. :D Although you cant see any houses in any direction from my place. I feel for ya and would build it like you need to cover your car and when you turn in the prints/plans write it up as 10x15

After the final inspection, add a 3ft roof extension in back (you may call it an awning). Nobody will know or care.

This exactly what I was planing, build the 10x15 with 1' hang overs on all sides, and fiberglass fence closing it in :)

By the time its done it will be 12x20. Atleast thats the plan.

Any Rules for a guest cottage? Try building one like this

i have a 16 foot trailer and i use almost every single inch of that trailer!

I like the Cottage style :)

It looks like I can get away with the 10x15 and add an awning addition in the fromt to make it 20' long in the future (as soon as I'm off the towns radar)

If you build an attached garage is the zoning different? I don't see how they can limit the size that small do you live in an all Prius Community? The smallest Garage package from 84 Lumber is 16'x20'

its funny you said the "all Prius Community" my wife has one, and she asked if her car would even fit in a carport that size.. lol

they will let me build a 12X24 carport (3 sides open), but the fee's are outragus, $250 application fee, $250 zoning fee, $300 town survayor, $??? independent survayor, $50 document filing fee, I'm cutting it close with the setbacks they require, and I'll also get taxed on the car port.

if I build the 10x15 there is $50 application fee and thats it, and I don't get taxed on it, and I can upgrade it in the furure.

They make it so you want to spend the fees to make a big carport.
