1972 Mustang Mach 1 H code
Hello everyone, I am having some electrical issues with my 1972 mach 1. the radio and climate control are not hooked up. the previous owner appears to have added a security system maybe. I would appreciate any info or advise thank you.

in the photo above, is an overview of all the wires I found in the glove box.

^in this photo I found this device secured in the area above the glove box, I googled the writing on the front and it lead me to believe it was apart of a security system.

^this is the switch mounted to the top of the glove box opening.

^ this photo is a shot of inside of the glove box area, I'm assuming the fiberglass are in the back is the heater box.

^ another shot of the inside glove box area

^ the black wire to the bottom right of the photo is cut and don't know where it goes.

^the wire in my hand is also cut

^this ground wire sits under the radio but it is cut and don't know where to reconnect it at.

Again thank you for the time. I live in Quantico, VA if anyone is close buy I would appreciate a look at it as I am not good with reading wiring diagrams and electrical stuff.

man, what a spagetti mess. Hopefully you can find someone close by to help with that. You will need the wiring diagrams, available on ebay for download. That will be very helpfull at identifying the wire colors and suspected function at least for the stock wires. I would remove all that old alarm ****. Then when its all working like it should, take it and have a new modern alarm installed, and maybe a gps tracker as well.

thanks for the quick reply!, hoping someone does live close by. definitely will take advantage of modern amenities once I figure it out.

You can download wiring diagrams on our forum. Just click on the "Mustang Data" icon at the top right of this page.

Yes, you are right, that is part of an alarm. There may be a couple of other sensors and probably more pin switches, doors, hood, and trunk lid normally get them.

Thank you for the reply will look into those areas tomorrow

I would pull the dash and the entire underdash harness and wiring mess and send it to Midlife to refurbish and remove the alarm components.

Most of what I see is add on, so if the car operates now and everything that matters works, you could just start removing the add on stuff-butif you let Midlife fix the harness, you'll be done with a lot less work.

Midlife Harnesss Restorations is a site sponsor and a really awesome dude. He can go thru your harness and return it to proper operating order far cheaper than replacing it. Reach out to him and talk about it, I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised.

Also look on here for dash removal procedure-it is intimidating to consider, it is far less so to do.

My wife says the same thing: "What exactly is Midlife?" *LOL*

Yes, I think the thing to do is simply pull all of the wiring, taking pictures of every connector, ring connector, plug location, etc., so you'll have a better idea of where everything will go once you have a factory-correct underdash harness. I can determine what is and isn't factory in about 5 minutes on my workbench, and go from there. I offer a 2 year warranty/guaranty and everything is plug-n-play.

Now then...take a look at your engine compartment wiring to see if it is also been hacked; the chances are good that it has. Don't you just love POs (Previous Owners)?
