idler arm to center link fit

I torqued the idler arm to center link nut today and it doesn't seem right. After I torqued it, I loosened the nut and the center link came separated from the idler arm with little pressure. Isn't the center link stud tapered and press fits itself into the idler arm? I am using a Proforged severe duty idler arm on a stock center link. After is torqued there doesn't appear to be any play but I want to double check how it is supposed to fit.
