I had a class on solidworks (a CAD software) and designed a knife. Which I then "printed" a plastic model of it. It is 8 inch overall with a 4 inch blade and a 30 degree blade grind. Check it out.

Thanks for looking.

dude that's wicked. what happens, does it mill out the knife when you "print" it?
No actually it builds it from the bottom up by melting a plastic powder then solidifying it with a UV light layer by layer. It took 2 hours to print.

Cool looking! I saw a clip on TV where they "print" an object out of plastic. Looked like a really neat process.
Yeah it is pretty fun to watch, I think I watched it for like 15 min straight and it was quite mesmerizing.

Really cool design Jayson.

There are similar processes that make parts from powdered metal instead of polymers. These processes are used mainly for rapid prototyping.
That is cool, I was wondering if there was a metal printing machine.

Thanks guys, I'm a big fan of recurve blades.
I wouldn't try to fly anywhere with that.
Why, it's only a little 4 inch blade. :p

Meh, just tell them that the curved part is for picking your nose.
Or a toothpick. Because it's not a knife unless it has a toothpick. :p
