Neutral Safety Switch C6 AT

Greetings

Working on my 1971 Mach 1 with 351C M Code C6 AT...

Could not get the car to start.. after jumping the safety switch

wire the car would turn over.. so I'm assuming the NSS unit went bad.

I see repops for sale for the C4's but not the C6? are they interchangeable?

Is it possible my old NSS is out of adjustment? can it be fixed?

I had the same problem with mine 20 years ago. I was able to take it apart and clean, fix or adjust it. I can't remember exactly what was wrong but it's been working ever since.

I think the case was riveted so it had to be drilled out and screwed back together.

Does it start in neutral? My guess is that it needs to be adjusted. Sometimes pushing the shift lever forward while in park while trying to start will make the connection and will tell you if it needs adjustment. Also if you have a multimeter you can check for continuity if you have the switch out. At the park and neutral position you will have continuity.
