My Car
1972 Q code mach1. c6 auto, dark green metallic/ green interior, Japanese export model.
Hi all, I'm a new member from the town of Toowoomba in Queensland Australia. I have a 72 Q code mach 1 that is a Japanese export car. It has a factory metric speedo & is complianced as an export car. It also has a decal inside the bootlid adjacent to the spare tyre/ jack instructions in Japanese script. It also has a tool bag from New Kobe Motors Ford in Japan. My mach is in dark green metallic with green interior & is highly optioned with over 20 listed on the Marti report. The car is also very low mileage having travelled only 58,000 kilometres which is about 35,000 miles.

I am hoping someone on this site might have some knowledge of the export programme to Japan. I have been able to find out very little to date. Amazingly there are also 2 other Q code mach 1's in my town as well. Both silver with black interior & both are tidy cars.

Welcome from Atlanta, Georgia!

Welcome! Please post some photos when you get a chance! Sounds like a cool car!

WELCOME aboard!

It would appear that you have a very unique 1972 Mach 1. I would love to learn more about it. Please post up a copy of your Marti Report when you get a chance.

I also have an "Export" version of the Mach 1 but mine was ordered through the U.S. Military while I was stationed in the Republic of the Philippines. I am thinking that your Mustang may have a similar "beginning" but it may have been ordered by a Japanese citizen.

Anyway, I look forward to interacting with you on the individual Forums.

Again, Welcome!

BT

My '73 Q code Mach spent time in Japan as well. It has a sticker on the radiator shroud with tune up specs in English and Japanese. It also had small bulbs added to the tail light and side markers that would be on whenever the ignition was on, kind of an early version of daytime driving lights, although I took those out when I restored it. Welcome to the site from Idaho.

Hi Steve, thanks for the welcome, any chance you could email me a pic of the radiator shroud sticker sometime. My engine bay was repainted at some stage so the decals are long gone. My car also has amber side markers on the rear qtrs not red.I will try & get a good shot of the boot sticker & post it. I put 3 pics of my car on the gallery last night.
