I also have a 73 Q Code convertible with a 4 speed. No Marti yet, it's on the list of things to do.
So nice to see a same year car. I ordered my Marty Jan2024 and got it around May. Are you a work in progress or an all done drive to the show?

Most of the basic mechanicals were done by the PO, but I think the only performance upgrade was a Edlebrock carb. She needs body work, paint, a new top, and then anything else I want to do like headers, intake, cam, etc.

Nice. I'm No expert but relearning as I go. Ginger interior, do your vigilance on the roof,I got 2 pinhole rubs in 3 months use. some say the cloth is better. Guess it depends on sun/rain combo. some 4 speed shifter issues. lack of LOCKTIGHT was resolved many. Do you have a side coke bottle for the overflow rad thing?

The coolant bottle is on my list of things to do. I'm leaning toward the cloth top over the vinyl, and I think I've seen some extra padding you can get to help with the rubbing. I'm going to take her back to the original Medium Copper (5M) paint, I'm trying to decide if I'm going to farm it out or do it myself. I did a Triumph Spitfire years ago that turned out pretty well, but it was a lot work.

I hope it's not bad form to show another model, but here's a pic.

all friends here. My brother had one 1980 ish Really enjoyed driving that convertible.

No apologies necessary CJ; in fact maybe I should be the one to apologise. Going through a restoration programe and the electrics were an item that needed attention. Thought it was as good as any of the other photos that I have to let you know where I am. But now that you have brought it to my attention I can see now it was dramatically overdone.

So glad that it is actually a work in progress. My car has been where yours is over the course of the last 29 years. 2024 was her first road trip since 1986.I never had the entire dash removed until most of it had to come out in 2023 during restoration mode. Rats had a nest up in the heater box area.I admit I am one who paid someone to put it all back together. When I separated from my X in 1992 ,he pushed the car out to the edge of the road, piled everything he wanted into the car , ran some sugar thru a newly rebuilt motor, and then called me to come pick it up today or"I'll hawl the ******* thing to the dump". yes I have a story too. just havent shared with anyone but you. The photo with me was taken on the very first test drive where my Mechanic ,at50mph dropped to third and punched it.Bang clunk clunk clunk.. I almost cried thought there goes motor.($8500 in 1999} But it was the 50 year old universal on the tranny end..

Sugar in the engine! It sounds like you made the right choice in keeping the car. Mine has been in the gararge for about 15 years but I am enjoying working on it (albeit slowly) and I have learnt so much through necessity and you guys and girls on this forum. Nice to have this personal interlude CJ and I hope you continue to enjoy your convertible and all that comes with it.
