Right on! I also paid $3500 for my own 71 Mach 1. My gf and I had quite an adventure verifying the VIN, learning more about the Marti report, and understanding the options and whats-not. We're really excited on restoring it. Looking forward to your own progress and best of luck! ::welcome::

Besides.. this cars usually looks badly than they really are so... it´s most lokely to find unexpected good news than bad ones...

Welcome and congrates. Good buy in all. I agree it will clean up well, like mine did to get my wife to agree to spend some cash to make it all fun. I make her watch Barrett-Jackson so she see's what these car could be worth. That usually opens the purse at my house. lol:angel:

I am reminiscing about 1983 when I bought a 12 year old Mach 1 in the UK for £1,800 (with a personalised registration number 788 R). It was a bit of a boat trying to handle it on our small roads but I enjoyed it. Sorry to sell it later that year for £1,000 plus the private plate for £500 but it was a nice summer car. It was an auto but I'm not sure if it was a 2 or 4 V - I know it was a 351 small block Cleavland with the Ram-Air that actually was connected and worked.

I have posted the only photos I have of it. Happy days.

Boy, that's the truth! My wife is sick of me being on the forum and I don't even have the car yet! Can you imagine what it'll be like after I get the car?

Yeah it's bad my wife call it the Mustang Porn site. I read and post and I'm not even working on the car at this point. I have the 93's engine on a stand doing a oil pump, timing gear and general clean up with my 17 year old son, then I have to reassemble the 65 and rebuilt its engine, THEN I can start tearing into the 71. Plus my lovely wife is asking to convert the vaulted ceiling above our living room into a 5th bedroom as we try to add another bambino to our collection of kids. It's a full list of projects...I have my favorite but it is way down on the list...all will be fun though.

My hat's off to you, Don! A week after I bought the 'vert last August, my decided it was time to replace the ceiling in our living room ("If you have time to work on that car, you have time to mud the ceiling in the living room! :-/ )

It's all good, though, as the ceiling got finished and the 'vert got a new front suspension.

Doc, That's how it goes at my house too...kind of a trade off between my interest and her interests. But I do have one thing going in my favor, we have a strong common interest in Mustangs so getting my wife's approval is generally pretty easy as long as the budget isn't too tight for the month.

I feel kinda bummed out tonight. There are so many cars on here that look awesome and then there is mine. The plan for the build is coming together but I really need to get the 5 speed in it and drive it for a little while before I'll have the time to really tear into it. But before that I have to get the clutch linkage worked out...working on it and waiting for the vendor to finish fabricating them for Roy first.

Thanks Fang. Im not going to give up on it. I like it way too much. Just wish i had the time to jump into it and enjoy the car like I want to. In the mean time I enjoy all the cars on here and vicariously "drive" them through the great stories and pics. Lol

Good deal Don65!! It looks like a great car to start with for dang sure. I realize you have to do the tranny.... but wet sand it and buff it and I BET you have a new car!!!!

Yesterday I took a little time and scrubbed some rubbing compound into the bleached out / oxidized paint. Only did half of the car but what a difference! You can tell where I stopped at the passenger side door in the pic.

I was amazed too when I took a Terry cloth towel and removed the dried compound! Actually I couldn't believe it was the same car! My arms and shoulders are paying for it today though. Lol
