So, we were having problems with the engine running rough.

First place to look was the ignition. We applied a timing light and

found the values to be way off, only later to discover we hooked the

probe to the wrong spark plug wire. In the interim I bought a new

timing light. Turns out the problem is likely a bad fuel pump, but I

got the excuse to buy a new tool :D

Looks high tech! I bought a fancy one last year with tach and the ability to preprogram the degrees you want then adjust to that number with the distributor. Love it! and use it all the times on my buddies cars to set their timing. They think I'm a genius when their car comes alive when setting their all in timing to 36 degrees.

Anyway, awesome tool you picked up. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

now that brings back memories from high school auto mechanics class. Damn I thought ours was the only one in existence that worked. It's a really cool machine!

Thanks for the memory lane trip!!

It is high tech, still trying to figure out how it works. Does a lot of

stuff. Has 240 - 9990 tach, should be in that range.

That machine is awesome! i want one but haven't found one nearby.

Adjustable timing lights are awesome. So much easier to work with.

I want one of those sun testers.

That looks very similar to mine's buttons. It's actually very easy Mike. Just mark your damper at 0 degrees with a paint pen or white out. Use the up/down button to set whatever degree you want to try, 16 works great. Then shine the light at the timing pointer. Move the dist until the line you made is under/at the pointer and you're at 16 degrees.

Too find where you're at right now, point the light at the pointer and use the up/down buttons until the mark is at the pointer. When it's there look at the light & read what the number which tells what the timing is currently at.

Too easy.

Another toy.

Vacuum gauge this time. Also works as a fuel pressure gauge which will come in handy soon.

Still having issues with the engine running poorly even after replacing the pump. At least now

there is fuel in the sight windows, but at what pressure? I think the next step is to check fuel

pressure at the carb. I did not know these vacuum gauges are calibrated for sea level and you

need to adjust the reading depending on altitude.
