Got a '73 Mach 1 I am restoring for my sons first car. A lot of work has been done and a lot to come... Upgraded the Front brakes this weekend. New Willwood Disk, Willwood Dual bowl Master Cylinder, and adjustable Proportional valve.... We had brake lights before with the factory tandem bowl and drums.... But we noticed today that we have no Brake lights now. I checked the connections and they were good... But I am not getting any kind of voltage from either of the 2 wires going to the proportional valve when the brake pedal is depressed.... I am thinking maybe the wire might have grounded out on the frame during the "install" and blew the fuse... problem is, I don't know what fuse supplies power to the proportional valve for the brakes... Does anyone know? or had this issue with a brake upgrade?

Uggg

The connector on the combo valve is for the brake warning light.

The brake light switch is connected to the brake pedal shaft under the dash.

You probably blew a fuse?

I would check fuses with a test light.

Brake warning light from the proportional valve will only work with key in RUN and if you have the feature that it comes on momentarily when you first put the key in RUN. Brake lights are a completely separate circuit, and some years are fused; others are controlled by the headlight switch. For 1973, power is routed to a circuit breaker that controls the e-flasher power and the brake switch. I believe the power is battery (unfused) power.

I'd check your brake switch under the brake pedal. You may have inadvertently removed it.

Well you guys nailed this one on the head. My son disconnected the pedal so we could swap out the master cylinders.... Guess what he didn't do when we put the new Master in?.... yep... switch was dangling. Now we are trying to figure out how it goes back on the pedal....don;t guess you guys have a picture of one connected to a pedal?
