My oil dipstick tube was broken at the rib. I have all the original pieces. The piece that goes in the block I was only able to pull up about 1 1/2 inches as seen in the picture. Is there a trick to pull it all the way out? The replacement doesn't have anything at the base that seems like it would catch up in the block. Do I just need to give it a good yank?

Thanks, Don. That's what I thought. Now I have to find something long enough to reach and yank or take the ALT off to get better access. Going to have to take atleast an ALT mounting bolt off anyway to secure the tab on the new dipstick to the head. I love this stuff!!!

Since I'm not trying to save it I manage to clamp a pair of vise grips on that sucker. That bugger is in there. Definitely going to have to get the ALT off. Have to anyways to secure the new dipstick. The old, original one didn't have the tab or have it anymore. Atleast no one every decided to get creative and slap some JB Weld or similar on the block to "fuse" it all back together. I've done it to tractors because I have JB Weld and need to keep going and don't have time to go spend $10 for a new one. lol It's a pain to clean up in winter when you do have time.
