SO guys, after the throttle linkage problem, I turned the car off for a bit. I went back to go and start it, and voila it won't start and I now have oil ontop of my manifold a healthy amount at that. Any suggestions? I don't mean to be a bother posting multiple threads just need help.

Could be a couple of things.

What motor do you have? Any mods done, like aftermarket manifold, gauges etc?

If you have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge that is "mechanical" you might want to check that line, they usually leak.

I have a 351c no mods, bone stock.

Not really any connections to oil on the intake manifold besides the PCV valve and vent hose. Check PCV valve should rattle might go ahead and wash out with some carb or brake cleaner if you don't have a new one. There is a gasket under the filler cap in the L.H. valve cover look there. Check the valve cover bolts also, don't over tighten or you cut the gasket. Are you sure it is oil not gas?

Upon touching it, the substance is brown and slippery which leads me to believe that it is oil. I do of course smell gas from previously trying to crank the car over and nothing happens but more oil on top of my manifold.

Valve covers leaking.

PCV not working disconnected. usually oil will come out of breathers on valve covers and make a mess.

a crack in the intake manifold is possible but unlikely unless your crank case is really pressurized indicating more problems.

a loose intake manifold bolt will weep oil.

best would be clean it, run the motor and watch where oil is seeping from.

a leak from the oil sensor usually leaks oil behind the engine over the transmission it would have to be a huge leak to shoot oil up and over onto the intake.

a leak from the front or rear seal on the intake would also leak down the front and rear of the engine not onto the intake manifold.

To make sure I understand. You fixed some kind of throttle linkage problem and the car was running fine. You obviously didn't see oil on the intake manifold at this time and most likely would have because of the throttle linkage work.

The car sat for a bit. You went to start it and it would not start. It still will not start. Upon inspection you notice there is a lot of oil on the intake manifold.

You have tried starting it again and it still won't start and it appears to you that there is more oil on the intake.

Is that a pretty accurate summary?

When you say 'A healthy amount' do you mean is it collection in pools around the intake runners? Both sides, front back or ??

Can you post a couple of pictures?

Can you watch the engine while someone else cranks it? Or crank it from the solenoid so you can watch where the oil is coming from?

Sounds to me like gas that should be going into the carburetor is going onto your manifold. When you fixed your linkage you may have caused the fuel line to break or become disconnected.

Please proceed with a lot of caution, if it is gas all it takes is a tiny spark to set it off.

Correct and my mistake I checked again it is infact gas. Although the gas only appears to be on the left side of the manifold and not the right. Heres some pictures.

hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like there is sealant between the intake and the head (The orange stuff, though it may be the valve cover) Generally, the gaskets should do the work without extra sealant, I think you may have an intake manifold leak

the orange stuff next to the valve covers is simply orange leaves.

It is indeed gas and I cannot see why so much gas leaks profusely from the carb everything seems to be in working order. Bad thing is, it gets next to plugs etc, pooling near the left hand side valve cover. :-/
