Orginal AC Cobra.JPG

The owner bought it brand new in 1964 and still drives it! I'd say he is getting his money's worth. And even it its present condition could still fetch some righteous dollars!

I would have to keep an eye on it everywhere I went!!!!!!!

Back in the early 90's we were at a World of Wheels car show (remember those?) and there were dozens of kit AC Cobras on display.

Out in the parking lot was a really ratty 427 "kit" Cobra - I thought someone had done a really nice job getting every detail correct but wondered why it was such a trash heap.

We got to the back end of the car and its license plate read "Its Real".

It was the same deal as this one. Guy bought it new and used it for his as his daily transportation and planned to continue to drive it forever.

I wonder where it is now - he has to have passed away by now.

Hey you never know what you can find. In 1985 one of the other tool & die makers where I worked came to work and was telling us about his brothers encounter with a 427 cobra. His brother built FE engines and was known in the area. A guy came to him wanting him to rebuild the engine in this cobra he had bought for $800.00 that's right eight hundred. He brought it home and had it sitting in his drive and someone stopped and wanted to buy it and he said he had just bought it but would sell. The guy offered him $50,000 so he got suspicious and did some research and found out what he had scored.

The original owner did not know they were worth any money and the guy that bought it just liked the big engine in the little car. It was in an area known as Cashiers in the mountains of N.C.. I am sure there are others out there just have to keep looking.
