I need a radio block-off plate. I am interested in NOS or used.
If anyone has one available, please PM me.
Thanks!
Ray
That piece probably cost Ford less than $.25. Remember a whole body ready to go to paint back then was about $300 -$400. Only 800 - 900 now.*&%@#!..David, that's 449.87 after the web discount!!! Do you realize how many of those sort of things were thrown away on any given day at the dealerships? Kind of like all those carpeted mats, antenna templates, and all the take off parts that were offered to me at one time and I didn't see the need for. And lets not forgot all the Rochester carburetors my 429 CJ friends pulled off their cars and had me to haul off. (Sorry Pastel Blue) Another round of "If I Only Knew Then What I Know Now"!!
Ray, radios were only standard on the high end cars like T-Birds and Lincoln's. Since most cars were at least ordered with a AM radio, you very seldom saw a delete plate. Most of the ones I saw were on the police cars we ordered for the city and county. When a car came to the dealer with a radio option the "Loose parts" were in the trunk. Loose parts would be floor mats, wheel covers, and a kit that would contain the radio, antenna and template for drilling a hole in the fender. All this was done during the PDI (Pre-delivery inspection) before the car was cleaned and turned over to the sales dept.
David is correct on aftermarket radios. There was a company that came to the dealer and installed radios, intermittent wipers, hang on cruise control, etc. A lot of people just didn't like what the factory offered for radios, or wanted something like cruise control that wasn't offered such as on our 71-3's.
So the Marti report, invoice, or window sticker on your car would not show anything about a delete as a radio was not standard.
Sorry to keep on ranting, but $500.00 for a $10.00 piece of plastic!!? I believe in making a fair markup/profit, but come on...these are not Boss 429 parts!! OK I'm done! LOL
Yeahhhh... Thx for the reminder :chin: It sure is pretty to look at anytime I go in my basement storage room for something... Obviously charging for the apparent rarity of this block off plate, looking for a fool similar to one that would pay what I paid for this thing... One fool is enough - Don't do it and I agree, you could make something similar yourself and pocket the asking price loose change.*&%@#!..David, that's 449.87 after the web discount!!!
