1973 Ford Mustang Coupe. 351C 2V. Auto. All original, been in the family since new. Originally a California car, it's never seen snow.
Found a company called “Trans Am Race Engineering that reproduces the Minilite wheels. I bought 15x8 with 4.5BS and received them a few days ago. I’m planning on 245/60’s up front and maybe 255/60’s rear, but I am tempted to try 295/50’s. What do you guys/gals think?

Very nice 👍🏻 wheels. I tried a variety of staggered tire sizes on my ‘71 and settled on 245’s all around. I went up to 275/60’s and IMHO the 275’s were just too big for my Shelby Cal 500 15x7 wheel setup. The 245’s however were perfect.

Here’s a shot of the 275’s.

I'm running 275/50s in the back, but also have 9" wheels with an extra 1/2 inch backspace over yours. Also have stiffer-than-stock rear springs. Watch where the backspace puts you and make sure the tire won't rub your sheet metal.

I would think 295s would require a wider rim, but that's just my opinion. It would look awesome though.

Those look good! I might go with the 255’s to give me just a little more footprint than the 245's. I am afraid of a rub situation with the fender. My suspension is stock and possibly sagging a little. I think eventually I’m going to have to invest in some new leaf springs. Even though this picture is a GM F Body, this is the look I'm after on the rear. These are 295/50 on 15x8.

I was able to take some time to test fit the wheels. Looks pretty good. The front comes pretty close to the upper ball joint. Also, doe s anyone know what the diameter of the hub is?

I also have those wheels with 235 up front and 245 in rear. I wish I had put 245 all the way around. It would handle better. The 235 are a little too narrow for 8” wheels up front.

That’s great to hear because I was actually starting to wonder if I should go with 235’s up front. Do you have any pictures of your car?

It’s not the appearance that I don’t like, it’s the handling. My car handles better with the same size tires all around.

I finally had the time to get the tires mounted on the rims. I went with 245/60 Front and 255/60 Rear. I am very pleased with the stance and fitment. One day I’ll work up the courage to try 295’s but at this juncture I don’t have the resources to mess around with fitment issues. Thank you everyone for your help with my decision.
