Saw this on the History Channel.

Remington, founded in 1816, is the oldest continuously operating

manufacturer in North America. It is also the only US producer of

both firearms and ammunition.

There's a whole series on the History Channel called 'Tales of the Gun' and I'm sure Remmington was featured in one of the episodes.

They are all available on Youtube and I'm sure there are more than just what you'll find in the link I'm including but this is a good place to start if you're interested at all.

I have a 700 VLS in .308. It is a tac driver too. I put a Rifle Basix trigger in it and mounted a Simmons Aetec 8-25x50 scope.
The .308 model 700 was widely used in Viet Nam as a sniper rifle.
