My Car
1972 red convertible ,Black interior and top. 351c 2b. Very good condition. Only 2 previous owners. I even have some of the original paper work from 4/72
I need some info on first start up of the spring. Had the car stored in a unheated storage space over the winter. Had the battery on a battery tender since Nov.in my garage. Would check up on car monthly to be sure mice did not take up residence inside. Winter came late to Northern Illinois but no long term sub zero weather.

My questions are: After I put the battery in , check tire pressure and do a overall visual inspection , what else?

How long should I let the car idle before driving?

My garage is a 1/2 mile from storage. Should I go straight there for another visual inspection or drive it awhile?

My experience has only been with snowblowers and lawn mowers stored for 6 months. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

After the visual inspection, check ALL fluids. Pump the brakes a couple of times to make sure that there are no problems with the wheel cylinders or calipers (as appropriate). It only has to idle until it runs, no need to wait if it doesn't stall. Hopefully you used a gas stabilizer.

My problems after storage have always been rubber components that fail. Belts and brake system rubber. Also make sure that once it starts that there are no fuel leaks or water leaks with the rubber components under the hood.

Hope this helps.
