Steering Column

Changing the steering box in my 71 Mach1 today and saw this when i looked up...is that not a column shift piece?

Fuzzy picture but could be for lock out rod. Chuck

C9zx is correct. It's for the steering column lock out rod. Can't take the key out unless auto is in park or standard is in reverse if I remember correctly.
