I was looking at Sanderson, kinda pricey but I think they would do the best job. I dont suppose they line up with the stock exhaust collectors?
Sorry, that I am not sure of, I had my exhaust custom made.

I was just curious. I want to be able to start my engine at home after the installation. Dont want to piss off the neighbors. I imagine that it would be easier to cut and tack weld the existing exhaust to long tuber header collectors than try to make adjustments for the existing exhaust system and the shorty headers. I will have to take a look at it as I really like the look of the shorty headers.

I have had a few bad experiences with Sanderson headers and would not recommend them to anyone. Stick with something proven as HemiKiller has suggested. His experience speaks for itself... Go with the Hookers.
Thanks, Jay

I think you are right, it probably would be easier to cut the existing exhaust back and weld it to the collectors on long tube headers.

The hookers make more sense overall. Lower cost and they will be easier to adapt/weld to my existing stock exhaust for the time being.

What were your experiences with Sandersons? Just curious. I have had Hookers on mine since '03 and the only thing bad I can say about them is they hang a little low. I've considered changing to the shorty's just to clean up the appearance.

When I installed the 351w in my car back in the day, I just had long tube headers and some 90 degree turn downs from the auto parts store. I drove it like that a week or two while I saved up for the exhaust. As long as you aren't sitting in the driveway idling for 30 minutes or revving it to 4k RPM, its not that obnoxious.

It was silly riding to class. Just idling through the parking garage without giving it any throttle, it was setting off car alarms. But that was just it being an enclosed concrete box. Outside and in the drive way, it wasn't that bad.

When I put my ‘73 together the first time, I put on Cherry Bombs with a flange and a turndown to get it to the muffler shop. Got pulled over for it, but it was technically up to code at the time. It’s just enough to take the edge off the loudness, but still pretty loud. I don’t know if Cherry Bomb still makes those, but they could do the trick until you can get a real exhaust put on.

The headers angle and outlet would be different than the stock so that may be an issue. Just start the car and idle it to the exhaust shop.
