Unusual wiring?

Hey everyone, my 73 Mach I has an unusual plug on the wire harness that has a tag saying "To Tach", when I first got the car it was just coiled up in a corner of the engine bay and sits there to this day, the tach in the dash works fine thought.



There is also this other part of the harness that goes to the ignition coil horseshoe that seems to be specifically matched to the coil, does my car have an updated harness or did this set up come stock in 73?

"Ford Motorsport" turned into "Ford Racing Parts" it looks to be a retrofit Motorsport ignition system. Do a search on the part number starting with M.
