Can anyone tell me about these valve covers? I'm not sure what they are but they were in a box when I bought my Mach 1.

Hmm They look like Boss covers with the Cleveland badge on them. Possibly off of a Pantera or just an over the counter option from Ford. If you don't like them I'll take them;). No supported facts here, just speculation.

They do have removable badges. I'm in the process of cleaning off the nasty crinkle finish paint and getting ready to polish them. It appears that the paint was a home job because there is not much left. It was also only on the sides, not the top.

I like them better than the chrome valve covers currently on the motor. The PO said they were on the car when he bought it. I know factory covers were stamped steel with a Ford script. I haven't seen these before.

yhea those are the ford racing cast aluminum covers. i have the same ones.

i drilled out the Badge area and tapped in Boss Plug wire holders. so my ignition wires have a nice neat look.

you can still order them they still make them.

Thanks. I guess I'll clean them up and put them on and enjoy the look. Much better than the chrome dress-up kit on it now. This is a great site - post a picture and get an answer. Valve covers, spoilers, wheels, you name it, the 7173 world knows.

Guys,

I have a few sets of these covers.

They are aftermarket made in California by Ansen which may have been sold by over the counter by Ford. They are still in business making the same covers today.

Thanks, Jay

I have the same set but "Weiand" is in raised letters in the box on each cover.

How about a photo of this?

What did you use to seal up the hole?

this is what i did

drilled the holes and tapped/threaded them for the bolt

sealant was used for the bolt threads during install.

Now that is how to do wiring...

I just don't think I can drill holes that straight. Maybe I could try some double stick tape.

Use double sided tape to line up the bracket, center punch where you want the holes so the drill can not walk, remove the bracket, then just drill and tap with the bolt you want to use. :)

Just don't drill the holes with the valve covers installed on the motor you will get metal pieces In the engine. So remove the covers first, always good to change an old gasket too.

You can buy the brackets and the wire holders new :)

Best mod I did for the ignition wires.
