What is the dangling 194 light behind cluster, above headlight switch ?

What is this, and where does it plug in ?

What's confusing is the socket looks like it should fit into the cluster somewhere

After discussing with member 71fast, this dangling light is 72-73 specific and should plug into the "alternator" hole of the cluster. See diagram below.

Germys is spot on: this is 73 specific alternator indicator lamp that plugs into the dash cluster.

The alternator warning light on my '71 is also hardwired separately with a separate bulb and socket. The printed circuit connector is blank where the trace from the alternator warning light is. I updated the printed circuit illustration here:

The connector illustration also shows it is missing that connection.
