sat in dad's garage for 34 years, slowly restoring it but still runs great
Underneath the diagonal shock tower brace is this part (green tape). The part is attached to a heater hose. What’s the part for? More importantly, it is missing a small hose coming out of the part - where would the other end of the missing hose connect to? Thx. I’ve owned this for 48yrs and many others small hoses are brittle and falling away.

Its the vacuum actuated water valve. You dont want hot water cycling through the HVAC system when you have the AC trying to blow cold air. Shop manual calls it part C9AA-18495-D.

The vacuum line that controls it comes from inside the firewall. The hoses are usually color coded with stripes. Shop manual shows a black and a black with a purple strike hose coming out that gromet, part D1ZA-19C828-AB.

In the picture's its a single assembly with 2 vacuum hoses and a grommet. It pokes through about the top center of the firewall. One of the hoses comes from the vacuum canister behind the passenger shock tower, the other one goes to this valve.

I wanna say in the last picture, hose C is the black one. It would supply vacuum to the HVAC system through the black hose to the heater selector knob. Then hose G would be the purple one going back out the firewall to shut off the flow of hot water when its not needed.

got it. This really helps. Thanks. I may just tie into the hose at the firewall (it's a "snake pit" under the dash, and I may break more hoses fumbling around in there).

I'm thinkin maybe the hose goes through the firewall to the A/C controller levers. There's alot of controller hoses attached to that. I don't have a diagram that I can refer to but I'm sure someone else who knows a lot more will chime in.🤡
