My Car
1995 Mustang Cobra
A friend owned a 1971 Mach 1 429 SCJ that was being restored. He passed away. I am going to list his car for his Wife. The metal work and paint are great. The interior needs to be refurbished. It has a custom functional Ram Air hood to fit a high riser intake manifold.

I am thinking of posting it on Bring A Trailer or taking to a Barret Jackson auction depending if it is a rare car. Please let me know what your thoughts are on where to list the car.

Please don't contact me directly to buy. I will be putting it up for auction.

IMHO, it's a pity about the hood and hi-rise manifold. Work looks like it was done very well, but I think this car should have been left as original as possible and minus the louvers.
Great looking car though.
I understand that. He was building the car for his pleasure, not as a collectors piece. The hood's craftsmanship is great. But is looks like a big flat nose. The good news is that the hood and intake can be easily replaced.

Bring a Trailer would be my first recommendation, but check out the past Mustang auctions on the site to see how other 429s fared. You can set a reserve to protect it from selling too low. Also check out Hemmings and Hagerty. I'd say BJ or Mecum as a last resort.

I sold a car on ebay many years ago and it was a smooth easy process since the buyer was local, also, I listed as local pickup only to avoid shipping hassles, back then there was a flat $100 seller fee which was very reasonable, not sure if that has changed. You can check out some local muscle car dealers or look on Youtube for places like Maple Motors, American Mustangs, Volo Auto Museum and many others who specialize in vintage or muscle car sales, I do not know how much they charge for commission though, they would let you know

Completely agree. BaT will provide the most exposure with the least amount of cost. That community will provide plenty of commentary (good and bad) on the value and rarity.

Wow really nice work on the hood.
Very rare car too.

It wouldn't surprise me if the original hood was tucked away somewhere and possibly already painted to match. Indeed this is a rare car and the custom hood hurts its value so that's what I would have done to preserve that value. Best wishes with the sale.

A beautiful Mustang indeed. What an interesting resume. 4:11 locker with an automatic and a Drag Pack. I bet it can lift the front wheels off the ground with slicks. The work on the hood was done very well keeping the scoops and the hood locks. I could have done without the tall 429 Ram Air badging. I was also impressed with the painted on striping.

I sold my 1970 Torino SCJ Cobra on Craig List a couple years ago, no problems and got asking price. I would list it on Craig's List and here first. If the price is in the ball park you will sell it. If it is too high it won't sell. Why pay fees for an auction. Make sure you understand the retail value as you will get low ballers and tire kickers. If it doesn't sell you can always try BAT.

No price and you have no way to contact seller . So what’s the purpose of this post . I’m confused 🤔

Thank you for list a few placed to list. I have not heard of any of them.

Unfortunately I know very little about the value of these cars. I mess with 84-95 Mustangs. Which is is why I choose an auction format for this incomplete project car.

Check Ebay. There's usualy a couple 429 cars on there. Not exactly a real value as most times they are dealer offerings. Wherever you decide to list it you will get asked about whether or not the engine and trans are original to the car. Obviously the original VIN stamped block and trans will help the value a lot...
