The F.A.S.T. racing series ( Factory Appearing, Stock Tires)is pretty cool for guys who like old muscle cars.

The cars can have any invisible mods you want, but must appear visually 100% stock, down to the skinny bias-ply tires. The engines must look stock also.

The record set several years ago still stands: Lane Carry's 1971 Mach 1 429 SCJ turned a 1/4 mile run of 9.84 @ 139.9 mph.

That is seriously fast for any modified car, let alone one that is restrjcted to these rules.

My car, which looks identical, is just a tad slower. What's 3 or 4 measly seconds snyway?

Yes , I followed up on him some too . Very impressive what he's done with that car .

in the 460 forum he's reported going somewhere like 9.40s. that motor is more like a 590 stroker thats been cut and welded max ported 429scj heads. the carb has been max worked to flow somewhere in the 1100cfm range.

he uses all adjustable shocks but have to be painted to look stock. he uses calvert mono leaf springs and he adds rubber strips to them to look like a stock 4 leaf. he uses a c4 tbrake build with a stock shifter with a few buttons for line lock.

they do however let them put a fuel cell in trunk for safety. he also puts weights in the trunk to offset some of the heavy nose weights.
