Looking to buy the door lock pull knobs out of a 72 Grande. I have some after market ones that rattle and it drives me nuts! Thanks in advance!

Striker169, Since your car is a Grande, it would also have the Mach 1 style deluxe door panels. There is a metal grommet with a felt insert the lock knob passes through that you need to check. Over a period of time the anti-rattle felt deteriorates and allows the knob to rattle. A lot of the aftermarket knobs were a different diameter from the Ford units and were responsible for more rattles to chase down.

Don @ Ohio Mustang Supply sells both the correct grommet (different from the standard door panel) and the knobs. Don is a Forum member/vendor here and has taken care of all of us.  https://www.ohiomustang.com/store/order_page.asp?itemid=712

Just checked and you are correct! There is a felt ring that has deteriorated! Just ordered new rings and knobs from Ohio Mustang. Any tips for getting the old rings out without messing up the door panels?

Any idea what the correct length is for the knobs? I ordered replacements, but they aren't as long as the ones in my 72. The new ones don't reach the grommets, so there's enough space to see the rod below.

The grommets on my car have tabs on the bottom as shown in the grommet illustration from Don's site. You will have to pull the door panel so you can straighten the tabs on your original to remove. Reverse the procedure for the new grommets. Sure don't want to damage good door panels as they are not cheap!
