Had today off for good Friday and a good Friday it was.
My wife and Got busy this morning getting the front bumper on. All the effort I put in getting the bumper to fit before I painted the car paid off. I'm stoked We got the bumper right back to were I had it.
Painted the rings that go around the headlights and installed.

Moved on to painting the A pillars flat black and getting the widow molding clips installed.

Intriguing way to get post attention in the daily summary posts. I bet your post gets a lot of views. Good strategy I'll have to remember that one.... ha

Did a spectacular job fitting that bumper up. Hope mine looks as tight when it’s done.

Was the lower chrome body moulding part of a particular package when ordered? In tearing mine apart there was none - except the single small piece forward of the right front wheel (painted over, of course, by PO).

71/72 base Mach1 package had lower body moldings. When you got the "C" stripe option the lower moldings where deleted. There's a lot of Mach1s out there with lower molding and "C" stripes which is incorrect.

Well the wife and I did a job that I been putting off for ever. We installed the front and back glass. It went real smooth took about 2 hours with caution. I seen on YouTube A guy used weedwhacker string to set back glass on his 67 fastback. I gave it a shot the weedwhacker sting is the way to go for pulling the rubber around the lip of the body. On to the next job I been putting off polishing the moldings.

Mike your car has come a long way and it’s looking fantastic. One day I hope to make it back out your way and see it all finished. Tim
Thanks Tim. It has come along way. Getting excited that I'm getting close to driving this summer.

Car looks great Mike! It’s going to be a stunner when complete. Ryan

My brother came down from AZ for the weekend and helped me or should I say I helped him install the decals. Now the sport roof identifies as a Mach 1.

After a few laps around the neighborhood we discovered a problem in second gear. The tires just don't stop spinning!! It just burns the tires off. I thought the V8 Pinto I built when I was a kid had no traction.

Nice looking Stang. As to your "we discovered a problem in second gear" comment: sounds like defective tires or maybe bad gas pedal alignment :)

Been working on small stuff. Wiper arms, Traction bars. Installed over flow bottle.

Trying figure out why the wipers are parking to high. It's holding me up from installing the hood.

Look what I picked up this weekend for Free. Last week I went to a Christmas party. Ended up talking to this guy mike. We were talking about Fords. He told me about his 69 Bronco he built. I started to tell him about my Mach1. He asked what motor it has. I told a 351c 2v. He said do you want a 351c4v, Just come by and get it. WHAT! Does it have 4 or 4.on the head. All he knew it had a 4 on the head. When he bought the Bronco project the motor came with it. He installed a 600 HP 408 Windsor create motor in the bronco. Now the bad news the 351c sat outside of his shop for 2-3 years. He told me it's full of water. Don't care i'll take it. Saturday comes I call mike he tells me it's a 4dot and come on up. I get to this Guys ranch to find a 40/60 shop full of toys including this wicked bronco that he tows behind the diesel pusher motorhome. What a cool guy we B/S for hours. So we loaded up the Cleveland and home I went.

Well got home, time to get it up on the stand and see how bad it is. Not wasting any time My wife and I tore in to it. I told my wife all about closed chamber and open chamber heads. I could not believe that she was so interested in seeing what the heads were. So I handed her some tools and she got busy. Shortly their after we found that the motor had a tenet living in the right head. (See pics) That didn't stop the wife pulling the valve covers. Then came the moment of truth when I removed the head from the block. Could they be closed chamber could they. YES they are. Let the dancing began. :p Looking at the block #4 is rusted bad it would need a sleeve. Oh well. Sorry for the long story. But I had to tell some one.

Very cool! I hope she keeps helping you out with it. If that engine has never been rebuilt you might be able to get away with simply boring. Hope it all works out for you at the machine shop.

The Intake was a cast iron that was milled. I dropped the heads off at the machine shop today. I'm having them hot tanked and inspected. Hopefully they clean up and check out. Dave at he machine thinks they will. My plan is to use the original 2V short block that came in my Mach 1. I don't believe it was ever rebuilt. This 4V motor was already taken 30 over. I don't know what to say about my wife. She must want something.:s All she said was that the new motor has be Tara friendly. What the hell does that mean.:dodgy: I think she remembers how moody my last 351 4V was.
Is it a 4 bolt main? You can take the 4 bolt caps and use them on your 2V block. Just get your machinist to drill out and tap the other 2 bolt holes.
