Hey everyone, been thinking about changing out my front seats to something with a bit more adjustability and comfort than the factory high backs. I almost purchased a set of full function power seats out of a 2015 GT, but after searching for power diagrams I came across another post here that ended in the seats being too tall for the car. I have played with the idea of doing the full TMI seat reupholstery and foam replacement, but would still have factory non reclinable seats. What have you guys done to improve the comfort in your cars? As always, thank you guys for your input!

I snagged a nice set from a fox body with the bolster etc for cheap. I'm in the process of cleaning them up before test fitting. I can update after this weekend for you but I have been told they work well.

Thats good to know, if I was home, I could measure my seat height so i would have a point to start from when trying to find something new, but I am deployed, and the internet hasn't proven fruitful in the information I seek. Can't wait to see how they fit!

For consideration is a 2021 thread by member “Mkspeedlab” using foxbody recaro seats (1982 GT?}
I thought the seats look incredible (but I’m not sure about the recline and other features you may be looking for)
In one of the threads it has a picture of the seats in his Mach 1

Nik - I have a 72 coupe that I am restoring and will be in need of seats. If you end up swapping yours out, send me some pictures, I would be open to buying and shipping them if they are in decent condition...and off course if you are going to part with them. Best - PBR

Paul, thanks for reaching out, some time back my driver seat frame broke, which i had rewelded. Then I swapped it to the passenger side so that it wouldnt recieve the same wear and tear. After lots of research I have found that the new factory Mustang seats (which I really wanted to swap) will be too tall for our cars. If in the future I do swap them out, I will keep you in mind!

One aspect to be concerned with is the thickness of the seat foam. If too much then your head will be hitting the headliner.
Yeah I know, this is what is making it so difficult to find replacements! The seats I almost purchase where out of a newer GT convertible, but they were crammed with features like heating and cooling and power lumber and power adjust, so the thickness of the base was like 4 inches, no bueno for our cars! Back to the drawing board!

I ran 86 GT recaro seats In my 71 Grande. I removed the 86 seat tracks and installed the 71 tracks. Bolted them right in. I have been looking for fox body seats for the right price.
Well thats great to hear! I always like the look of the Fox Body seats and recently saw some for sale on Facebook Marketplace locally.
