Edit after posting this: I was thinking it would help keep them from breaking. Or is that not an issue with the captured style? The 73 mounts are a captured style, so there's no need to pin them like I did.
I went and grabbed my replacement used convertible 73 mustang mounts out of storage (I needed them anyways) and now see what 'captured style' really means and why your modification would not be necessary.
I read some of the other threads about swapping in the 'tops' from a different motor mount to the bottoms of the convertible mounts. That makes more sense now too. I also noted that the part numbers were stamped on the lower portion of these mounts.
Regardless, I am looking forward to replacing my 'not right and also broken' mounts for the correct pair.
