1973 Coupe -Under rebuild/restore
All, I have read many post in the last couple days on how to process the original Master Cylinder /Brake Booster in my 1973 Coupe. The Leeds unit looks like a nice unit. Master Power Brakes also have a nice unit that has the 9 inch booster unit.

According to many of the posts, the 9 inch booster unit works Okay. I would like to explore a Brake re-builder who could rebuild both Master Cylinder /Brake Booster since it is original!

Several Re-builders

It maybe cost effective for the new 9 inch booster units!

What do you think?

I run a leeds 9inch booster on my 73. It’s ok, less smooth than with the original, prolly because it can hold less volume of vacuum. Ive swapped it because repairing the old one full of brake fluid was I thought bach then too much cost to have it shipped in the states. Years passed and because my 71’s one was also not looking great, I decided to open it.. Guess what both are now fully restored as they are very easy to service and the membranes inside are Bendix with a dupond patented special type of rubber that does not really decay as the average rubbers. Both were leaking because of the rust forming that pushes the rubber enough to not seal anymore. Short story it takes not much effort to give them another 50 years of atmospheric pumping! ;)
Another detail on the leeds, it comes with 3 different rods to fit the pedal. One very close to the original, but not precise enough, which later on forced me to modify the lights switch by sdding a 0.8mm piece of metal to have my brake lights work again.

Powerbrakebooster.com (formerly Booster Dewey) has done a couple of rebuilds for me and I would recommend them.

While I did think about the 9" Leeds unit, I wanted to keep the large original size booster in my '73 so I decided to have it rebuilt. I would make the same decision again...
