If it is just the float, let me know, I had a bad sender and think I kept the float for such an occurrence

Maybe it has nothing to do with your problem, but mine was that the fuel gauge would read way above full indicator, after checking wiring and everything I went ahead and bought new fuel sending unit from Rock Auto Parts and as soon as I installed it, it worked fine with correct reading. Maybe you need to get you another sending unit. Here is the link for mine. Search their catalog for FG87A . It was around $37 and it came with the o ring and outside lock ring

I have seen them crack
