Thanks Bill. I actually found and ordered the hardware from CJ, so I think I should be good. Hopefully I can get all the trimming correct, as the holes are all about a 1/4 inch off in placement...both clips and access holes. The whole panel needs to shift about a 1/4 inch / half inch to the left (towards the outer door edge). I've heard these often don't line up sometimes for the clip holes, but wasn't expecting it to be that far off for the access points for the armrest and the window crank. Anyway...more to come.

Saturday Update 2/1

So the interior is coming along nicely...which again, I am happy about, as it finally looks like a car, as opposed to something I pulled off of Sams Hot Car Lot. Also added in some pony floor mats just for the touch. Still waiting on the bolts for the passenger seat track, hence the seat missing. Trim panels are in and the only thing left to do is figure out the rear seat situation and put in a headliner. Outside of that, a radio, ac/heat unit...and we're off.

Lesson of the day: Practice Practice Practice.

So I have been less and less thrilled with the refurb I did on the trunk lid...as it was one of the first things I attempted to salvage. That being said, I have decided to order a new replacement and took the opportunity with this one being crap....to try and place the trunk lettering with pins on there to see how it would look before I order the new one and I strip everything for painting. I'm aware "officlally" the 72's have the classic fender emblem on the right hand side of the lid, but I like the look of the m u s t a n g spelled across. What I did learn however is that by practicing, I realized that when the new lid arrives, I will be going to the adhesive letters as opposed to the pins.

I measured all this out, leveled it all out, taped it...1-1/4 inch down...2 inches apart...and this thing came out all jacked up. Specifically because the pins that are on these Scott Drake letters are angled upward....so when you actually drill and place them in, they slide upwards about an 8th of an inch from where you anticipated and marked it. This led to the letters being all kaddywonky and I was definitely glad this was a test run. Even though I wanted to stick with pins, I think the adhesive letters have a much larger area of play to position and adjust for level placement as opposed to doing pins, whereas if it moves, you're pretty much f'd with holes and crooked letters. Lesson learned.

All in all, progress forward. She heads into the shop next week for the rear window. I probably won't update until thats done. Who knows, you might even see it painted the next time!

Couple of shots I forgot to post prior to her being shipped off to the window repair. Pre and post dashpad and steering wheel, interior touches. Liking the way it is coming out, and love the touch of the walnut wheel against the black. Horn won't work tho, which seems to be a common issue with these Grants. I have current and voltage and I did test the flow to the horns prior...she's just not picking it up for some reason. Not a huge deal, just another bug to decipher.

Hey all...so while she is in the shop for the welding work, I started mapping out the new headliner, ordering bows, etc and noticed something.

Is there a piece of interior molding that should run the length of the front of the roof to cover where the headliner will be anchored? As you know, I refurbished all the plastic interior trim from the original car, repainted, etc., but this piece (if there is one) was not present.

Does anyone know if there is a piece of trim that covers this across the top...and if so for all you part-pushers out there...does anyone have this piece and willing to sell it? Let me know.

UPDATE.....thanks to @Spaceman who tracked down the side trim and the rear quarters, I secured those pieces. However, the front piece that sits at the top of the windshield where it meets the roof seems to be one of those "holy grail" pieces that are not easily found. If anyone knows of one, if anyone stumbles across one, let me know. I may have to work some creative brain cells and fabricate a plastic piece.

Yes, there's a metal header trim that also has the sun visor clip attached to it. I should have one from a hardtop in Ginger.
