My Car
1972 Mach 1 project
Old member back with new account, cannot get into old...

Anywho, made a tentative deal on a 72 Mach 1. Sitting for 6 years. Complete car, numbers car. $3,500 USD but I have to haul it home 3 hours, still a great deal.

Has been sitting in same spot for 6 years, not on gravel.

Curious how bad you think things will be? I am prepared for floor pans, maybe some rail repair, anything else?

I have a few more pics, but this is the only one I could get to load.

I looked at the car in person and its pretty solid, there was alot less snow and forgot to take more pics.

Hood is nice, ram air hood. Front spoiler is perfect. The urethane front bumper is really nice.

Second question is, I would love to paint it green. The green i like shows up as grabber green in 71, but before that grabber green was not a color I liked at all. Did it change in 71??

Outside looks pretty solid. All rust can be easily fixed just depends if you want it to look nice or not. Most the time the big rust holes you see in floors and such are from sitting water that sneaks in from above. Being a unibody the floorpan is pretty crucial so I would take a peak, subframe connectors can help especially if you wanna half do it and weld ontop of pre existing pans. Hard to say what you will encounter without looking yourself. Mine sat outside in Minnesota rain and snow for 2 decades and the entire car is now weld and new metal. By the look of things you are a lot better off though. All depends what your end goals are, enjoy it driving quickly or have it look pretty after a lot of work. I believe grabber green has had a few different shades through the years.

Really hard to say, as we don't know how it was treated beforehand, or where it's sitting. Climate of the area has a lot to do with it.

Here's the Mustang color website. You might be thinking of Bright Lime.
